I moved for school. The experience with the movers was surprisingly pleasant and easy. I was worried about my things arriving broken or damaged, but that was not the case at all. All the movers they used on both ends were very nice and communicative. I appreciated everyone’s politeness and high-quality service while moving. The moving experts I was connected with in Europe were also very communicative during the process. There was a bit of mix-up on the delivery days, but my shipment made it to me in one piece! Would 1000% use Laser again.
I did some research and was originally going to use a different mover, but Laser was cheaper for more volume with higher service quality. I was glad I did some extra research before going with the original company I had selected, especially since the originally selected movers took much longer to ship and deliver my items. Another reason I chose Laser was their reviews online, as well as their FMC license. I also looked at their BBB reviews and they were pretty good, which made me feel comfortable with my choice.
Everything went better than planned. I tried to make the process as easy as possible for the movers by placing everything I wanted to ship into my garage, since the service included packing. I wanted to make it as quick, easy, and painless as possible for the movers and myself by having everything I wanted to ship out and ready to go.
The delivery person on the other end of the shipment was fantastic and a huge trooper since he was sent by himself — which did not go as planned. The delivery company in Europe told me they were coming on a certain day and ended up showing up the day before. They did say they were going to call the day before, but I wasn’t expecting delivery the day before, so they showed up a day early while I was gone all day taking care of customs paperwork. They showed up the next day (which was the scheduled day) with only one person to unload the truck.
I felt bad that they sent only one person, so my husband and I tried to help. I didn’t mind helping, but I didn’t appreciate that they sent one person to handle the delivery alone. Not cool on those movers. The mover, however, was very nice and fast and didn’t complain at all. That man deserves a raise!
The top tip I would share would be to have your items sorted and placed somewhere aside that is easy to pack up, and also to answer the phone when an unrecognized number calls — because there’s a good chance it’s your movers, and you don’t want to miss that call!
When moving to another country, try to have a plan for cell service, or if you plan to use Wi-Fi calling, tell the people you are working with that you need them to call on something like WhatsApp. Make sure if you get a new phone number and turn off your old one, that you let the movers know to cut down on confusion and phone tag.
