The decision to return to Germany was not a spontaneous one. Professional obligations and family considerations came together over time, and eventually it became clear that this was the right step. Emotionally, leaving the US was not easy. From an organizational point of view, however, it was mainly about planning and execution. With a full household move overseas, I did not want to leave anything to chance.
Before making a decision, we compared several international moving companies, including Crown, Schumacher, Laser, and others. I was less interested in flashy reviews and more focused on solid, verifiable facts. What mattered most to me was a clean door-to-door scope of services, predictable total costs, and binding answers to critical destination issues: fourth-floor access, the use of an external lift, parking permits, and the possibility of a shuttle transfer.
International Movers Network offered the best overall package. Their quotes were clearly structured, easy to understand, and could be compared properly on an “apples-to-apples” basis. I also deliberately checked formal indicators of reliability, such as licenses (e.g. FMC).
The preparation phase stretched over several months. During this time, we felt well supported by IMN. Responses were quick, communication was structured, and the video survey was handled professionally. The estimated volume felt realistic, and topics such as transit time, customs clearance, and insurance were explained without sugar-coating anything.
I particularly appreciated that potential risks were addressed openly. I would rather have a realistic timeline than overly optimistic promises. All offers were transparent, and any follow-up questions or adjustments were clearly documented.
At the time of writing, the delivery is still pending, so this feedback refers to the pickup and loading in the US. On loading day, the team arrived in St. Charles right on time. After a short safety and process briefing, work started immediately.
Furniture and fragile items were carefully protected, pictures were packed professionally, and everything was labeled consistently. The inventory list was clearly numbered and easy to follow. Despite working at a good pace, the crew remained calm and organized throughout.
What remains open are the final access conditions at the destination in Frankenthal, especially the use of an external lift to the fourth floor, the actual transit window, and of course the condition of the goods after unloading. However, these points were clearly identified as variables from the beginning and never glossed over.
Interim conclusion after pickup: very satisfied. Communication has been transparent so far, there have been no unpleasant surprises, and all commitments have been met to date.
Even though delivery is still pending, the transition feels controlled. Patience is an essential part of any overseas move. Knowing that everything was professionally packed, documented, and handed over reduces a lot of stress. What matters to me now is that the same level of organization continues through the delivery phase.
We did not define a strict budget, but the final cost is roughly in line with what I expected. For me, the absolute number was less important than the feeling that price and service matched. So far, that balance feels right. All cost-relevant items were discussed in advance and fixed in writing.
Based on my experience, a few points really make a difference with international relocations:
Moving from Missouri back to Rhineland-Palatinate is logistically demanding, but so far it has been handled very cleanly. International Movers Network has impressed me during preparation and pickup with structure, transparency, and calm professionalism. If the delivery maintains this standard, choosing them was the right decision. Once again, this experience confirms for me that in international moves, clear communication, realistic expectations, and solid processes matter more than any promise on paper.
