The original price of $6,300 was an estimate based on 250 cubic feet and was subject to confirmation of the shipment’s final packed volume. After the goods were professionally packed and palletized, our warehouse measurements documented a final volume of 496 cubic feet. We recognize that this was a significant difference, and we should have explained the revised volume and charges more clearly before issuing the updated invoice.
We also regret that some kitchen items were initially missed and that the customer had to bring them to our warehouse.
After discussing the matter, we reduced the transportation charges from $9,849 to a final negotiated amount of $8,832, which the customer accepted in writing. Cargo insurance, which was selected separately, was not included in tha t transportation amount.
Although we understand that the customer remained disappointed, we believe it is important to clarify that the parties reached an agreed transportation rate and that the final packed volume was documented at 496 cubic feet.
